We at Lemington Consulting believe that giving
back to communities in which we live is important. By contributing to
worthy causes we believe we are creating a better community and a more
attractive business climate. Below are just some of the ways in which our
staff has helped others in community, civic and professional organizations.
During college, David spent three years working as
a tutor to students at Georgia Tech. David assisted students with math
and science subjects, and was named co-head of the tutoring organization his
senior year.
Starting in 1984, while living in New
Jersey, David volunteered his time to the Big Brothers Big Sister
Association as a mentor. David was subsequently matched with Steve,
a thirteen year old living with foster parents. David volunteered his
Saturday afternoons and some weeknights for three years, spending time
with Steve doing a variety of activities including tennis, baseball games, and
other activities.
In 1986, David was named Big Brother of the
Year by the Camden/Gloucester County Chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters for
his work with Steve. Even after his relocation to attend graduate
school, his friendship with Steve continued. Steve visited him at
graduate school, and they remained in contact through the early 1990s.
In 1985, David joined the Board of Directors
of the Camden/Gloucester County Big Brothers/Big Sisters Association serving as
a board member until his graduate school relocation. He participated
in numerous fund raising events, including one at a New Jersey state prison
that offered inmates the ability to raise funds for the organization.
David organized a group of friends to participate in various fund raisers as
well. David attended board meeting in the evening, after work, with
some meetings lasting until 3 am.
In 1986, David also volunteered as
a member of the board of the Philadephia chapter of the Society of
Automotive Engineers.
During graduate school, David worked as a teaching
assistant helping other graduate students
In the early 1990s, David was the member of a
social organization in New York City that did chartible work in and around the
New York City area.
In 2004, David spent five months working on the Education Committee of the
Downtown Council of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce developing
ideas and plans for assisting a local public magnate school.
Currently, David is a member of the Jacksonville
Information Technology Council (JITC), donates blood through the Florida/Georgia
Blood Alliance and has worked as a volunteer for Junior Achievement. In
addition, David donates food and clothing to local charities and does volunteer
work at a local food bank. David has also been active in numerous Internet
newsgroups volunteering his time to assist
hundreds of
computer users solve their computer issues.
